We were looking to get off the grid for a while and wanted a simple campsite with no frills. If you're considering one of the "meadow" campsites, look elsewhere. They're sandwiched between the main gate, the kids playground and the mini golf course. It was incredibly busy and not an ounce of privacy. There's a really bright light near the main gate that blasts through the site we were in. All of the sites were really close together too. So much so, we didnt even know where our site began or where to even put our tent so we weren't in another site. They seem to only rent out every other site, but it's still close enough you could hear your neighbor fart in their tent. (Literally) The bath house was clean, but the showers didn't have hot water. I read the review left not too long ago about no hot water and was fooled because the sinks had hot water. I'm here to report they still don't have hot water. It's garden hose warm at best. It seems like it's geared more towards family RV camping. They had some events for kids our first night there and the RV sites were in a nice wooded pine grove area. It just seems like the tent camping sites were an after thought. Not recommended for 2 kid free adults wanting to get away.
This is the third year a group of us has used this campground for a reunion. Great location for all of us to get to but unfortunately we won't be back. When we arrived we were told there was a newer trailer on the site we have rented the last 3 years. It was filthy (I don't think the rug has ever been vacuumed), there was a puddle of water in the kitchen and the connecting smaller bedroom from a leak somewhere, the bed was quite possibly the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on and the toilet stopped working our second day there so we couldn't use it at all. To top it off, there was someone screaming profanities for about 20 minutes at 4 o'clock in the morning at the top of his lungs. Don't think it's too much to ask for a little decency at almost $200 a night for a trailer.
Editing to say: really disappointed that I had called for a refund, wasn’t able to speak to anyone and was told I’d get a call back and never did. That alone tells me all I need to know. If you don’t have the decency or care to remedy a situation or at least give a call back to a customer who isn’t happy that raises some red flags for me.
Don’t waste your money. They should specify on their website that their “wooded” sites don’t have car access and don’t have enough space to fit a tent. Save your 46$ a night and go to white lake state park up the street. Half the price, better sites, much quieter, cleaner and overall worth the stay. The website makes it look much better than it is and “new ownership” should start a customer service training program where they learn how to be pleasant and have the right skills/tools to solve problems for the people they’re taking money from. I NEVER leave reviews for anything especially bad ones but not being refunded for a tent site that you can’t get to and there isnt room to actually put a tent on is disappointing.
Went here prior to new ownership and this year after new ownership. I was VERY surprised to see the 1 star reviews since the new ownership. The new building and entrance are such an upgrade. You no longer has to see the neglected animals when you pull in the entrance. The campground itself is well maintained and the bathroom were clean. This is truly a hidden gem close to Conaway, Ossipee, and Lake Chocura. The price is right and the river sites are beautiful. Highly recommend.
This Camp ground is far from a "family experience " With Thursday night Movie night blasting, Friday Music jam,The Gun Club across the street blasting gun shots while trying to enjoy a meal. Saturday 6pm partying from across the campground..We stayed in the corner lot #70 a zero electricity and zero water site costing $500 for 2 weeks that took 6 days for The One person who is allowed to mow, mow the foot high lawn we had to walk through, the cigarette butts all around our fire pit and the crushed cans of Booze, The one entrance to get to our spot multiple times I had to speak to the office about maybe posting a sign "DO NOT BLOCK or PARK IN THIS SPACE" Seemed to be too much to ask, as its our only way into and out of our site..The young kids behind the office using the space as an AUTO repair or chop shop. It seems Noone cares about their job and it shows. Noone here in charge overseeing anyone it's a free for all and the younger the better. The office closing an hour before its posted..Never mind the outdated shower stalls and no out door sink for those who don't have water on site. I wouldn't come back and I won't recommend it to anyone with family.
